I think that is why you have landed on this page because the caption draws your attention. Yes, this summer I am planning to grow both marigolds and tomatoes in pots. Though many people will get surprised because both of those are not summer season plants. Most people grow tomatoes as well as marigolds in the winter season. The most important aspect is why I am growing both marigolds and tomatoes in pots? Are there any benefits? Yes, marigolds always help in the production of vegetables & fruits.

A few years back, when I used to buy marigold plants and planted those in a bigger pot. It used to show good results after a few days. Gradually, it started budding and a few flowers started blooming. At this moment, as a gardener, I used to be happy. But suddenly the leaves of the plant started curling. The flowers stopped properly blooming. Buds stopped developing. So suddenly the whole thing started changing. My cheerful moments vanished. It would be the time to be worried. Yes, it is called the leaf curl disease of a plant. Not just marigold plants, it happens to various plants like tomato, chilli, bitter gourd etc.

Most of my marigold plants died and a few of those are about to die. I planted those last winter, so it was expected. Every year, I prepare to propagate marigolds from cuttings. But this year, I could not do so. Now it is already late because my old plants are not healthy. So I would not get perfect cuttings from those plants. So I had to buy seeds. The shop owner claimed that those seeds were for the summer season. I had to believe it because, after the winter season, nobody sells marigold plants. I bought a packet of marigold seeds for Rs 10. I came back home and sowed those seeds in a pot.

Most Indian gardeners will definitely grow a few marigold plants in the garden during the winter season. Some people also go one step ahead because they love to grow marigold flowers throughout the year. Yes, I belong to that category. During the summer season, plants are severely affected by insects & extreme weather conditions. Extreme heat, rain & storms are common during this season. So we need to take extra care during this period. White spots on the marigold leaves are a serious problem during this time. It is even a common problem for marigold plants even during the winter season. But if you are growing this during the summer season. Then even after proper care, you may face this.
